A few weeks ago, we wrote about how the Blue Jays were beginning to take flight.
The Blue Jays were 10 games out of the first place then.
Now, before games played May 27, 2017, they are 6 1/2 out of first place and only 4 games out of a Wild Card position.
The Blue Jays have played extremely well in May and two of the players who have fueled the team are Jose Bautista and Devon Travis.
Both Jose and Devon were batting well-below .200 a few weeks ago. As of today, they are batting .236 and .252 respectively.
Jose now has 8 HRs and 23 RBIs, while Devon has 4 HRs and 19 RBIs. Devon’s grand slam last night powered Toronto to victory over Texas.
Jose and Devon have been on fire.
Justin Smoak and Kendrys Morales also continue to pound the ball all over the diamond. Smoak leads the team with 30 RBIs! He is having a great season so far.
Meanwhile, Morales is not far behind with 26 RBIs and is proving his worth. In comparison, Morales is having a better season than former Jay, Edwin Encarnacion – one of personal favourite players. Edwin has 9 HRs and 20 RBIs. However, he is only batting .218. Morales has an equal number of HRs, but is batting a solid .250.
And with Josh Donaldson and Troy Tulowitzki back in the line up, the early disappointment that fans were experiencing in April is set to return to joyous elation.
Go Jays Go!
